Outdoor Kitchens and Pool Decks in California

Outdoor living work goes around the pool: outdoor kitchens, patio covers, pergolas, pavers and pool decks. Many pool builders handle some of it themselves and bring in other trades for the rest, so ask who does what. Many pool builders take on some of it.

Check the contract for each trade involved, and ask whether the pool contractor, a general contractor or a landscape contractor holds the license for the work. A General Building (B) contractor may contract for pool work if they hold the pool classification or hire a licensed pool contractor to do it, and a landscape (C-27) contractor may contract for a pool if it is part of a larger landscaping project. The builders below state outdoor kitchen, patio, paver or pool deck work on their own websites. Look up every license at cslb.ca.gov and ask to see finished projects with the same features.
